1. Skin irritation
Glutaraldehyde is irritating to the skin and mucous membranes of humans and animals. 5% glutaraldehyde can cause severe irritation symptoms, but 2% glutaraldehyde only stains the skin with a shiny brown color.

The systemic toxicity of glutaraldehyde to humans is mild.
