Diethanolamine structural formula
Molecular formula: C4H11NO2; HO (CH2) 2NH (CH2) 2OH
Relative molecular weight: 105.14
Appearance and properties: Colorless viscous liquid or crystal. Alkaline, able to absorb gases such as carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide in the air
Purpose
- Mainly used as absorbent for acidic gases such as CO2, H2S, and SO2, non-ionic surfactants, emulsifiers, polishes, industrial gas purifiers, and lubricants. Iminodiethanolamine, also known as diethanolamine, is an intermediate of the herbicide glyphosate. Used as a gas purifier and as a raw material for synthetic drugs and organic synthesis.
- Morpholine and diethanolamine are intermediates in organic synthesis, for example, they can be used to produce certain optical bleaching agents in the textile industry. Morpholine fatty acid salts can be used as preservatives, and Morpholine can also be used to produce the central inhibitory drug Forcodeine or as a solvent. Diethanolamine is used in analytical chemistry as a reagent and gas chromatography stationary phase, selectively retaining and separating alcohols, diols, amines, pyridines, quinolines, piperazines, thiols, thioethers, and water.
- Diethanolamine is an important corrosion inhibitor that can be used in boiler water treatment, automotive engine coolant, drilling and cutting oil, and other types of lubricating oils to play a corrosion inhibiting role. It is also used as an absorbent for purifying acidic gases in natural gas. Used as an emulsifier in various cosmetics and drugs. As a lubricant in the textile industry, it can also be used as a wetting agent and softener, as well as other organic synthesis raw materials.
- Used as an acid absorber, plasticizer, softener, emulsifier, etc. in adhesives. It is also used as an absorbent for acidic gases (such as hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, etc.) in petroleum gas, natural gas, and other gases. It is a raw material for synthesizing pharmaceuticals, pesticides, dye intermediates, and surfactants. Used as an emulsifier for oils and waxes under acidic conditions, as well as a softener for leather and synthetic fibers. Used as thickener and foam improver in shampoo and light detergent. It is also used as a detergent, lubricant, brightener, and engine piston dust remover.
- Used as a complexing agent for silver plating, cadmium plating, lead plating, zinc plating, etc.
- Used as analytical reagents, acid gas absorbers, softeners and lubricants, and for organic synthesis
